Investor Account Protection
As Stratos Wealth Management (Stratos) is a division of MD Management (MDM), Stratos clients share the same investor protection as MDM clients.
Stratos accounts are protected in a variety of ways so you can feel comfortable knowing your investments are safeguarded.
MD Management (including Stratos) is a member of the Investment Dealers' Association of Canada (IDA), a self-regulatory body that sets standards for financial stability and conduct of its members. MD Management is committed to an environment of financial stability and must, on a regular and ongoing basis, satisfy the self-regulatory organization that our business conduct is in accordance with its requirements.
Through membership with the IDA, Stratos accounts are protected under the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF). The Fund protects investors for up to $1,000,000 for every separate account, as defined by CIPF policies, against financial loss in the event of a member firm's insolvency.
Planholders may also benefit from Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) coverage. CDIC covers up to $100,000 for Canadian-dollar deposits of monies in instruments, such as Guaranteed Investment Certificates or term deposits, issued by participating financial institutions, for a term of not more than five years.
